Created for THE KNOT SAPPORO, these works are made using a unique technique in which plants from the forests of Hokkaido are placed directly on a scanner and captured from the artist’s own perspective.
Rather than sourcing plants from deep, untouched forests, both pieces use specimens collected from a familiar woodland—the small hill forest adjacent to central Sapporo where the hotel stands.

The immediacy of plants gathered within arm’s reach imparts a striking sense of reality, evoking mystery, heightened sensitivity, and moments of surprise.
Through the delicate beauty and intriguing forms of these plants, the works reveal subtleties that often escape our everyday gaze.
