【REPORT】Coffee Experience Ride -Discover something new-
Our Coffee Experience Ride on 6/22 (Sat) and 6/30 (Sun) combined two things we love - coffee and cycling. This was a limited event for only five people per tour. The package fee included the rental bike, coffee, and workshops. Anyone can rent bikes at THE KNOT TOKYO Shinjuku, no matter where you are staying or come from, and likewise the tour was open to everybody.
To start, guests made a brief self-introduction and then our guide covered the tour outline and traffic rules.
Soon after, we headed to the first stop, MURRMA COFFEE.
Here, the guests watched and tasted the bean roasting process.
Comparing a different roasting period (one vs three days) of the same batch of beans was interesting and surprising: they had a very different flavour profile.
Two of the guests tasting freshly roasted coffee.
Next up, Counterpart Coffee Gallery.
At this spot, we did a “cupping” of five different beans.
The knowledgable barista gave us a detailed and easy-to-understand explanation of this process.
Cupping is very important in the coffee world, as it demonstrates the profile of a bean such as scent, bitterness, and acidity, and it is akin to wine tasting. Being able to judge these profiles side-by-side allows you to understand the flavours a lot better.
After the cupping workshop, we relaxed in the space drinking great coffees and chatting with the barista about coffee, bikes, and Tokyo.
Discovery of new elements of cycling and coffee were the name of the game on this unique ride. We were very lucky the weather cooperated too.
