【Report】Bread Tasting Ride
Dec 12, 2019
Late last month, THE KNOT hosted the Otsukai Pan Ride (bread tasting ride) in collaboration with tokyobike. Anyone can rent bikes at THE KNOT TOKYO Shinjuku, no matter where you are staying or come from, and likewise the tour was open to everybody.

We grouped up and headed to one of six bakeries each with the final and seventh bakery being MORETHAN inside THE KNOT. The weather was perfect for riding and each bakery had a palpable buzz, everyone shopping for their Saturday lunch.

Once we reassembled at the day’s HQ, we got the first glimpse of the delicious varieties of bread we would be trying.

We tasted the bread in a course style – starting with the lighter loaves, with sandwiches and breads with meat as the main, and rounding it out with some sweeter styles. While we ate we were also being educated by bread experts, Hiroaki Ikeda and Shin Yamada. Their knowledge of bread and the bakeries is really outstanding.

The final group shot. One, two, three, pan!

Thanks everyone for coming, and to the bakeries and of course our bread guides. We look forward to the next tour and eating more bread.

Tokyobike
The inspiration and ethos for Tokyobike begun with the name.
In the same way that a mountain bike is suitable for riding across mountains, Tokyobike is for pedalling around Tokyo. We want you to forget the bicycle itself and simply enjoy the ride. That is why we emphasise comfort over speed, and a feeling of lightness at the first turn of the pedal. All our frames and parts are based on this concept of ” TOKYO SLOW ” – that is what Tokyobike is all about.
