【REPORT】LOMORIDE! -Don’t Think Just Shoot with Tokyobike-
May 29, 2019
On Saturday and Sunday the 17th and 18th of May, we hosted the LOMORIDE in collaboration with tokyobike and Lomography. Lomography is a fun and creative way to shoot, especially for those just starting out with film. Their motto is “don’t think, just shoot” which pairs perfectly with that of tokyobike, “Tokyo slow”. The LOMORIDE package was ¥6000 and included rental bike and camera, development fee, one 36-roll film, and snacks. Both days reached capacity of ten guests.

The day began with the excited guests choosing their tokyobike (which are available to rent every day at THE KNOT TOKYO Shinjuku, even if you are not a guest), and getting to know each other.

We then left the hotel in two groups to go to a secret lawn park near Meiji Jingu. It was here we learnt about how to use a Lomography camera. Today we used the popular standard film LC-A+ camera.

We then moved to Yoyogi Park where the guests had 45 minutes to explore the area and finish their roll of film. Some stayed in the park, others went to nearby coffee spots like Fuglen and Little Nap Coffee Stand, and some explored the Tomigaya area!
At the end of this period, staff went to develop the films. Guests had free time to cruise around on the bikes, with the option of buying special tour price extra film. We also provided guests with a Google My Map of nearby recommend spots.

When we gathered back together at The Knot’s 2F BANQUET room, the guests were all in good spirits and excited to see the photos! With sweets and tea provided by MORETHAN bakery, we started the slideshows of the guest’s photos.

tokyobike
The inspiration and ethos for tokyobike begun with the name.
In the same way that a mountain bike is suitable for riding across mountains, tokyobike is for pedalling around Tokyo. We want you to forget the bicycle itself and simply enjoy the ride. That is why we emphasise comfort over speed, and a feeling of lightness at the first turn of the pedal. All our frames and parts are based on this concept of ” TOKYO SLOW ” – that is what tokyobike is all about.
Lomography
“Established in 1992 by a group of footloose Viennese students, the Lomographic Society International is photography’s wild child. Fuelled by fiery passion and burning curiosity, we blasted off our free-spirited movement when we stumbled across the Lomo LC-A — the most popular Russian camera of the 1980s, now famed for its quirky aesthetic. Today — with over 1 million creative members — Lomography is a license to let loose; an invitation to ignite your inspiration, and a platform to catapult your shots around the globe. Whether you’re a complete novice or a seasoned pro, we believe that you harness the power to create something incredible.
