Hiroshima is famous around the world for places like Miyajima—a World Heritage Site—and the
Peace Memorial Park and THE KNOT brand wanted to maximize this global reach while
maintaining its strong connection to Hiroshima. We want to be a space that is open to all and where
everyone is treated equally.

The signage of THE KNOT HIROSHIMA uses many languages: Japanese, English, Hangul, Chinese,
and more. While functioning as a universal sign, it also exists as art. This bringing together of a wide
variety of languages clearly expresses the identity of THE KNOT brand.

Works by Fumio Tachibana

The work of artist Fumio Tachibana is exhibited at the entrance on 1F. Having worked in the creative field for over 30 years in Hiroshima, Tachibana selected these pieces for THE KNOT HIROSHIMA as works that best represent the Hiroshima that he knows and loves. They belong to the city.

The series consists of seven works, representing the seven rivers of Hiroshima: STAND BY, OVAL, LIGHT EXPOSE, MOTHER, GROUND, UNDER THE UMBRELLA, SHAPE OF MY SHADOW. Among others, a collage work about the formation of letters, photos of the pillars of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, calligraphy-like works, an ink work inspired by the spherical Atomic Bomb Dome ceiling, and a Japanese wooden block letter print make up the series. Each work was printed using offset printing.

The two images are composed to connect and depict in three dimensions like a human body. The artwork, Skins Edition1, is based on the theme of diverse skin colors and expresses a peaceful and beautiful world where people of all backgrounds intermingle.

In this day and age where the world is becoming more open and united, how far can we pursue the essential aspects of our lives, aside from superficial things like skin color. This series begun in Hiroshima and was named edition1.

Typography Art

On each floor near the elevators, you can see typography art using the words “Hiroshima” and ”THE KNOT” translated into languages such as Japanese, English, French, Chinese, Korean, and Hindi. In addition, the twin room rooms are decorated with art using various interpretations of “love” and “peace”.
