Safety Commitment

We are with you from booking to check out
to keep you relaxed and safe.

All guest towels and linens are washed in hot water ranging from 60°C to 80°C (140°F to 176°F) for at least ten minutes, as advised in the COVID-19 guidelines from the WHO and the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. Each item is dried at an even higher temperature specific to its fabric. All frequently-touched surfaces in guest rooms, including hangers, showerheads and curtains, door knobs, refrigerators, toilets, remote controls, air conditioner controls, cups, trays, and desks are thoroughly cleaned using alcohol-based disinfectants. Guest rooms are locked after disinfection and cleaning, and are available to guests after a minimum of 24 hours. In some cases, however, a disinfectant spray is also used and the room will be available after a minimum of three hours.

Plastic shields are installed at the front desk, and we will process one check-in at a time. We request that all guests comply with temperature checks and answer a physical health questionnaire when checking in. Our staff will sterilise all guest luggage using UV light to ensure a safe hotel environment for guests. We want to make arriving at THE KNOT the beginning of a great trip. As such, we will provide guests with an original THE KNOT mask at check-in.

All public spaces are disinfected hourly by the cleaning staff and all frequently-touched surfaces such as handrails and elevator buttons are cleaned several times an hour. Elevators are equipped with 24-hour ventilation to ensure constant air circulation. We will also make every effort to ensure social distancing is maintained at other enclosed, small, and/or busier spaces such as the lobby and restaurants, which also have filtered fresh air in constant circulation. Hand sanitiser is available on every floor.

THE KNOT SAPPORO Magazine is a free tabloid-sized paper which is full of local information on people and shops in the city. It is available online and in hardcopy for you to take home, so please use it as a guide for your trip before, during, and after. We look forward to sharing our recommendations with you.

All staff have their temperatures taken when arriving for work, and staff with temperatures above 37.5°C (99.5°F) are not permitted to work. All staff are required to wear masks at all times, gargle and wash their hands every three hours, and additionally wash/disinfect their hands when moving around the hotel.

To ensure you have a fun and worry-free trip, we ask that you please wash/sanitise your hands, and wear a mask when you arrive at THE KNOT. If at any time you are not feeling well, please let a member of the staff know immediately.

Message from THE KNOT

We were born in 2017 as THE KNOT to serve as the knot that ties together a city’s history and culture with the people who live, visit, and stay there.

The global outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020 was possibly the first event that has simultaneously connected people from every corner of the globe, as well as physically pushed them apart.

Through this, people have rediscovered their appreciation for the simple pleasures of life.

Meeting new people is a profound life experience. This creation of knowledge, of emotions, of experiences, and of feelings enriches your life in ways not otherwise possible.

We rely on digital connections now more than ever, but there are still a lot of experiences that are not whole without the five senses.

THE KNOT is a place where you can encounter the charms, people, and details of a city that might otherwise go unnoticed. A place to nourish and showcase each city’s unique characteristics.

The history of THE KNOT is new, but it is the story of the connections that are made here that will help shape this history to last forever.

We invite each of our guests to continue to add to our story, and in doing so, feel safe and at ease.

We welcome you back with THE KNOT Safety Commitment.
